Copyright and takedown

Families upload handwriting, photographs and writing that were often made by someone else: a grandmother, a photographer, a cookbook author. Most of this is fine to keep privately in a family. If something on The Unbroken Table shouldn't be there, tell us.

Reporting content

Use our contact page and tell us:

• who you are and how to reach you;
• what the content is, and a link to it if you have one;
• why it shouldn't be there: for example, you own the copyright, it's a photograph of you, or it was shared without permission;
• if it's about copyright, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised.

Family content is private, so you may not be able to see or link to it. Describe it as well as you can, and we will find it.

What we do

1. We acknowledge your report and reply within 20 working days, usually much sooner.
2. If the report is clear, we remove or restrict the content and tell the person who added it.
3. If it isn't clear, we ask both sides for more information before deciding.

If your content was removed

You can reply with a counter-notice through the contact page, explaining why you believe you have the right to keep it. We will consider it and may restore the content, unless the person who reported it takes legal action.

Repeated problems

Accounts that repeatedly upload content they don't have the right to share may be suspended.
