What is The Unbroken Table?

A private place for your family to keep the people you love: their recipes, handwritten cards, photographs and stories, kept together and passed on. It is not a recipe app. The person comes first.

Do I need my family to join before it’s useful?

No. A Table with just you in it is complete. You can invite family whenever you like, or never.

Where do I start?

Add one person you want to remember. Then add one thing of theirs: a recipe card, a photograph, a memory. No need to have it all.

How much does it cost?

It is free during early access. When paid plans arrive, viewing and exporting what you have already kept will stay free, on every plan, forever.

Who can see what I add?

Only the members of your Table, unless you mark something as private, in which case only you can see it. Nothing is public.

Can someone join my Table without me knowing?

No. Every member is invited by the Keeper. People who join with a shared code wait for the Keeper to approve them.

Is my family’s content used to train AI?

Accepted Answer

Never. We use AI to help read handwriting, and the provider does not use what we send to train its models. A Keeper can switch AI reading off for their Table.

Do you sell data or show ads?

Accepted Answer

No. There are no ads and no advertising trackers, and we never sell information.

Will the original card be changed?

Accepted Answer

Never. A photograph of an original is kept exactly as captured. Readable versions and gentle restorations sit beside it, and the original is always one tap away.

What if the handwriting can’t be read?

The original is saved first, before anything tries to read it. “Not yet readable” is fine: it stays safe, and anyone at the Table can add a reading later.

Does it work in my language or script?

It is built for any language and script, including right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. The app itself is in English for now, with more languages to follow.

What are Keepers, Contributors and Viewers?

The Keeper looks after the Table and decides who joins. Contributors can add and correct things. Viewers can see and add their own memories.

Our family is big and spread out. Does that work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. People can belong to several Tables, and an original kept in one Table can be shared with another branch of the family without making a copy.

What if family members disagree about a memory?

Accepted Answer

Memories belong to the person who wrote them, and only they can edit them. Others can add their own. Our succession and family disputes policy explains more.

Can I download everything?

Accepted Answer

Yes, at any time: the original files and everything written about them, whatever plan you are on.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. What you added to other people’s Tables stays attributed to you unless you ask for it to be removed; our Privacy Policy explains how.

Can I make a printed book?

You will be able to choose people and recipes and download a typeset book as a PDF to print. Ordering printed books is planned for later.

What happens to our Table if the Keeper dies?

The Keeper can nominate a successor at any time, who doesn’t need an account. When the time comes, the successor becomes the Keeper, and nothing in the Table is lost.

What if The Unbroken Table closes one day?

We would give you at least 90 days’ notice and a way to download everything. We take that promise seriously.

Can I use it while I’m cooking?

Yes. Every recipe has a full-screen cooking view with large text, a screen that stays on, timers and a checklist, designed for a phone or tablet on the bench.
